Updates on
horses we've sold
We want to thank everyone for sending your wonderful updates! We
love each of our horses and are always excited to hear how they are doing now!
Laura Keur Elite Sport Dressage - Imported 1993 KWPN
Mare - Wellington Keur x Tolad

"As a
small breeder, we were looking for a top level broodmare; one who was already highly
recognized in her mare book and had a performance background in Dressage.
When Jennifer and Jason spoke to us that Laura might be for sale, we didn't have to
think very hard about jumping ahead and seizing this opportunity.
The prospect of owning this imported KWPN Keur Elite Sport Dressage mare
(one of the few in North America) as part of our breeding program and the added
benefit that she was already in foal to Olympic Silvano N made our decision very easy
indeed. We have very high hopes for the resulting foal!
Laura arrived at Ironhill Equestrian Centre on Saturday January 26th and immediately made
herself right at home. What a kind, loving and beautiful mare. Her
manners are impeccable, she is everything we had hoped for and some. She is
already the darling in the barn.
Laura's career of the last few years as a broodmare is going to take a different path; in
the fall of 2008 she will be going back into training. We are going to
take advantage of the training this mare has had in Holland prior to being imported.
It is our hope that she will once again canter down center line in 2009 in
Alberta. We are also hoping to be able to use her as a donor mare, so that we
can continue to enjoy her fabulous bloodlines while she is occupied in her sport for
a few years.
Thank
you Jason and Jennifer for making us aware of this opportunity and for considering us as
qualified purchasers! I just can't wait to see her foal and ride her! "
Classico CR - 2007 KWPN Colt - Olympic Silvano N x
Olympic Ahorn (and Archie a 2006 miniature horse)

"WE all made it safe
and sound!! Both boys were absolute darlings and handled the hole event without so
much as a nicker. Both Classico & Archie are in the barn beside the 2 other
geldings eating , drinking, peeing and all manure is still firm. I have a
night light for them and will check on them one more time before bed. They are both
beautiful and so much more than I could have wished for. You both have put so much
into your breeding program and I appreciate all that you have done. Right down to
the smallest of details,..banged tail looks so great!! I will write some more
tomorrow after a good night sleep with more details and give you another update on their
status. Both Doug & I really enjoyed ourselves last night,..it felt as though we
have known you forever!! You are great people and proud to be your friends!!"
---
"Both boys were running around for a
very long time this morning. I had a hard time getting my barn work done admiring Classico
and how light he is on his feet. He has very good reach with those hind legs !!
He is especially fancy!!"
" CR just loves his jolly ball,..he is the first horse that actually plays with
it endlessly. He is doing very well,..he is more aware , active and frisky then he
was for the first few weeks he arrived. He loves his routine, he loves to eat and is
growing well. CR is a super sweet, kind and sensitive colt that is
coming into himself more and more each day."
Little Bubba Luey has really turned out to be such a blessing!! WE all just love him
SO SO much and really can't remember life before him. He is such a welcome addition
to the family and will always be."
---
"I just love
CR,..he is such a sweet, sweet young colt that is really filling those empty spaces in my
heart. There is nothing I would not do for him,..anything within my power to keep
him happy, healthy and sound in body & mind!!"
---
"CR is so beautiful, gifted and has a
real gentle soul!! I count my blessings each and every day I spend with him. I could
NOT ask for a better horse, friend or talent,..he really has to be the best of the
best!! I really need to take current photos,..I don't know if you will recognise
him!! He is looking BIG and not baby anymore, filling out ... I swear he has
the most beautiful, longest and straigtest legs of any horse I laid eyes on. He was
a "find",....gosh I am fortunate to have found him and have met you!! No word of
a lie ,..when I watch him move or play I get goose bumps but sometimes I will get
tears! Seeing him is very intense!! He is by far the most beautiful animal I have
laid eyes on!!"
Coco Chanel CR - 2007 KWPN Filly - Balou du Rouet x
Orame x Riverman

"Coco is sooo sweet. She has bonded with me in
particular. There are two little girls (9 year olds) who adore her and pet her daily. So
she has a lot of attention. Of all the babies in the pasture these little girls have taken
a liking to Coco big time. In fact, if they see I have her haltered they want to come in
and brush her. She loves it. She loves her head scratched. She has the sweetest
high-pitched whinny. Very charming. I think she just had to settle in and figure things
out. She definitely knows she is my girl. Such a good, good girl."
-----
"I just wanted to give you an update on Coco. She is great. She
now walks straight up to me when she sees me. She has gained some weight and a bit of
height. She loves to run in the pasture and is usually leading the pack. She is fast and
energetic yet sensible. I wormed her - no problem. Her ground manners are impeccable. The
farrier was shocked at how well behaved she was for him. I was so proud. He complimented
me on her manners and I told him that I wish I could take the credit but her breeders are
responsible for her great manners.I will email you a picture of her when she sheds out in
spring. She is going to be gorgeous.
-----
"She is doing great. Whinny's at me when she see me or
hears me call her name. Such a good girl. Looking more beautiful by the day. Either I am
imagining things or she has spouted up a bit. She loves to run in the pasture and the
others run to catch her. She is striking because of her coloring and therefore
everyone knows Coco."
-----
I have been taking her on walks in the
vineyard outside the pasture occasionlly. Also, I have clipped her whispers and legs just
getting her slowly used to things. She is really smart and gets things really fast. She
loves her face rubbed and especially behind the ears.
Another breeder in the area came to see her because she is
interested in breeding to Balou. She loved her. She was really impressed with
her movement.
I am so lucky to have her. It is so exciting to see her grow and develop. It will be a
long time before she is jumping - but I can see the talent. I will start her out in
dressage first and have a feeling I will have to beat the dressage trainer off with a
stick when I transition her over to jumping.
Of course, she is beautiful and with that striking color and markings everyone knows
her. Everyone also says that Coco Chanel is the perfect name for her. She definitely has
star quality and appeal.
Wayne and I are tickled pink with her and could not be happier.
---
"I have attached some pictures taken of Coco
this past Sunday. She is playing with the Donkey's who were trying as best they could
to stay away from her. She was having a lot fun. The farrier had just trimmed her feet and
I threw her in the closest pasture to get some pics of her. She loves to jump on her
own and did so quite a few times while playing. She can also spin on a dime. She is
so vivacious. "
Cintaura CR - 2007 KWPN Filly - Prestige VDL x Laura
Keur Elite Sport Dressage

"Things are going great with Cintaura.
She is really growing. I am having a lot of fun with her. I have been taking her in the
arena once a week, to let her run around. We just play. She loves it so much, I have a
heck of a time catching her. She doesn't want to leave. She is even showing prospect
as a jumper. Last week I had a cavelletti right in the middle of the arena. As soon
as I let her loose, she ran right up to it, looked down at it and popped over it. It was
hilarious. Will send you some pics in the new year."
Bronson CR - 2006
KWPN Colt - Navarone x Olympic Ahorn x Farrington

"I wanted to give you an update on Bronson. He is doing
well with training. We are spending a lot of time on day to day stuff. His mind has
been exceptional. He learns quickly and I might add energetically. There is no drag in his
step. His growth has been good and he finally grew a Florida coat. We could not have asked
for a better horse. All is well."
Atacha - 2005 KWPN
Filly - Metall x Olympic Ahorn x Farrington

Atacha Keuring 2008 Ster Predicate
and High Point Dressage Mare
"Atacha received her ster predicate, and was high point dressage mare."
"I have justed posted a video on YouTube of Atacha at the keuring.
Admittedly, I am the worst videographer ever, and she kept coming over to me,
so that didn't help. By the way, she measured 168, which lands her right
between 16.2 and 16.3 (167.64 is 16.2 and 170.18 is 16.3) She'll most likely
finish at 16.3 as she is still a growing girl!"
Atacha
Keuring Video
---
"Atacha is really developing well. Her topline is great, she's quite
leggy and her canter is a 10. She is a good 16H now, although she could be taller
(should measure one of these days). We've been bridling and saddling her with no
trouble at all. Her mind is really maturing. I've really been struggling with
the "breeding at 3" path. Part of me wants to, and part of me also wants
to get her going and preparing for an under saddle career first. There
are a lot of high profile young horse classes available here. She is going to
do so well that she could be a great ambassador for the farm. I would also
like to get her in the best shape possible before presenting her for predicates.
They seem to look for a lot of development, and that only comes with work. I
see no reason for her not to go keur, she's quite special in a lot of ways. Oh
well, lots of time for babies......"

Dressage at Devon Update
"She handled everything extremely well, walked
around the showgrounds like she had been there a dozen times. She is a very
confident horse, nothing really bothers her. She didn't spook at anything, even in
the large Dixon ring which is surrounded by grandstands full of people, all kinds of
flower displays, etc. What a circus that place is, she was a real trooper."
---
Pineland Breed Show Update
"Just got
back from the Pineland Farms Breed Show in Maine, where Atacha ruled supreme!!!
First she won her yearling filly class...........then she won the Filly
Championship.........Then she won the Young Horse Championship (beating all of the
colts).......THEN she won Reserve Grand Champion of the entire show!!!
We can both be very proud of her, she's simply "all that" and then some.
Her scores were extremely high across the board -- conformation, walk, trot and
general impression. She has already qualified to go into the USDF championship
classes at NEDA in September. The competition was quite stiff,
with offspring by Sandro Hit, Neostan, Sir Sinclair and Painted Black to name a
few. "
Apollo now known as
'Aragon' - 2005 KWPN Colt - Riverman x Wellington

"Aragorn is doing really well. We moved back to Ontario this
summer, and of course, he came too. The shippers said he was great in the trailer,
and was very easy for them to handle, especially for a 2 year
old. There's another colt the same age at his new home here, and
they love each other. He's starting to turn into a really nice looking horse - I'm
getting excited to start him next summer! Our camera is on the fritz, and I can't
get it to load any of the pics we have of him. Once I can get that done, I'll send
them on to you. You'll be very pleased at how he's turning out."
Witaura - 2003 KWPN
Mare - Flemmingh x Wellington and Allianda - 2005 - Wellington x Flemmingh

"The girls are both doing well. Allie has settled right in
from arrival. She is a true pet. Witaura looks around a little more but is
also doing really well. I lunged her the first two days and lunged and
rode her today. She is very good about everything."
---
"Witaura is doing well. She is getting more and more steady
and will be ready to show next year. Allie is still down south of Albuquerque and
will be ready to start next Spring. I am sure she will be easy. She is so easy
to handle."
---
"Allie is off to pasture land and they say that she is doing well. I will
bring her back next April and start working with her. Witaura is doing really
well. I am going out in a few minutes to ride. Her stall is next to
Pan-Am's and they are so much alike. In the afternoon they stretch out and
take a nap and they both snore so loudly that one of my friends says it sounds
like a hospital ward."
Western Lady (Show
Name 'TOP SECRET') - 2003 KWPN Mare - VDL Arctic x Bopatches
(Bojinksy-Nijinksy-Northern Dancer)
"I wanted to let
you know how Ginger is doing. Her show name is Top Secret, she is owned by
Jacqueline Colbourne now (Kari Marit's niece). Look at the results in .90 and 1.00
meter at Spruce Meadows this weekend. She placed in the top 3 in every class she
entered, getting a 1st, 2nd and a few 3rds...... and only barely missing out due to time
not rails down.
Your little girl is a star
jumper. They are having a riot with her. Considering her age, she is kicking
ass! Beating stallions and more experienced horse/rider combinations.
She is truly loving her new job!
This is only one of the
classes, check out the 1.0 and .90 meter classes. This is very very exciting
for me....cause I started her, but more so for you, cause you bred her.

Cheval - 2002
Oldenburg Colt - Cambridge x Saralaida

"The show season is now over and as my older horse went lame and never came sound
again, Hershey ended up being the replacement despite his age. I could not ask for a
better horse. He has not once stopped or hesitated at anything. He tries so hard to do
what you are asking him to do. I thought this show season was going to be a serious train
wreck but thanks to how brave that little horse is it ended up being amazing. We took him
to the 3 Spruce Meadows summer tournaments (Skyliner, Canada One, North American) and
although we weren't winning, we were placing often enough against much older, much more
experienced horses. He consistantly went clear in the 1.10m division during those three
weeks. After that we took him to the two Rocky Mountain Classic shows at Anderson Ranch
where we competed in the 1.10m again for the first week and then bumped up to the 1.15m
for the second week. The fence height doesn't really seem to matter too much to him
because he seems to feel the need to jump 1.30m over everything. He was the youngest horse
in his divisions over the course of all of these shows as he just turned five at the
beginning of this summer. He is a joy to ride and a joy to have around. My trainer Marilyn
Dixon who used to compete on the Irish Olympic Team is incredibly impressed by him. If not
this year coming up, then the next year she thinks that we will be able to enter him in
some of the smaller FEI classes like the BP cup which is held in the International Ring at
Spruce Meadows. He shows amazing potential and tremendous scope and he is as brave as
anything I've ever ridden. Last weekend we took him to the Cochrane Pony Club out on the
cross country course and he jumped everything without even blinking.
His flatwork needs alot of work so for the next couple of months we are just going to
focus on some dressage in order to strengthen his topline muscles and get him turning
better of the leg. We couldn't be happier with him.
Thanks again for breeding such a great horse!"
Here are 2 links to some pictures taken of him at the Anderson Ranch shows. Amazing
Pictures..Take a Look!!!

"I thought I should update you on how he's coming along. We've recently shown him
at the Bow Valley Classic at Anderson Ranch and at the recent show in Northlands. He has
been competing in the 1.00 meter and 1.10 classes posting consistent clear rounds. He
loves to jump! We have a few pictures of him and he always puts in a tremendous effort
over the fence clearing it by at least 6 inches every time. He has the potential to jump
much higher than he his now and is very brave. He doesn't ever stop at fences. I enjoy
riding him alot and will be competing him in the Spruce Meadows Skyliner, Canada One and
North American competitions in the 1.10m division and depending on how that goes (because
of his greeness) maybe bump up a division. If you've got some time you should come watch
him because he really is worth seeing. Thanks for breeding such a great horse. He is
really going to be something. - Alexis"

"The end of another long show season is here! I thought it would be a good time
to give you an update on Hershey. He competed last winter in California at the
thermal show grounds near palm springs with my sister aswell as myself. He had
consistent placings in the 3'9' and 4'0' divisions and he even won one of the jumper
classics! This summer he was at Spruce Meadows for the five week summer series and
had good results there too. Most recently I competed him at the Rocky Mountain
Classics 1 and 2 where he was in the ribbons in almost every class. He is getting
better all the time. He would be moved up in the higher fence heights by now except
he has the tendency to overjump sometimes and we don't want him to scare himself because
his best quality is how brave he is. We are very happy with him and will continue to
jump him through the winter and next show season. He is a great horse. I will
attach some pictures from this last year for you to look at. Enjoy! and again thanks
so much for breeding such a great horse!"
Lianda Ster - 1993
Imported KWPN Mare - Flemmingh x Koopman

"I just wanted to let you know that Lianda is
settling in beautifully. She is so calm. I just can't believe how good her temperment is.
I am very excited to have her in our breeding program. Thanks for allowing me to purchase
her."
---
"I hope it will make you feel a little better to know that Lianda is doing well. She
is the sweetest horse I've ever had. "
